August 4th, a house was purchased to base services desperately
needed by the deaf-blind community. A dream of a
Training Centre for Deaf-Blind Persons was underway.

We
collaborated with the CDBRA to develop a National Registry
of Persons who are Deaf-Blind.

The 2000's - New beginnings... |

| 2000 |
Introduced Canadian Helen Keller Centre - a division of Rotary
Cheshire. This centre, supported by CNSDB, will be dedicated
to providing services & training, needed by the deaf-blind
community.
Introduction of Private Members Bill by David Young, MPP,
Willowdale to designate June as Deaf-Blind Awareness Month
across the province.
Hosted the CNSDB "Empowerment" workshop.
Launched Website.
Visitors and delegations from many countries continue to seek
advice from Rotary Cheshire Homes on developing similar services
and housing. For example, representatives from Melanesia,
India, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand, Granada, many
USA states, UK, provinces of Canada, etc. have sought our
advice in providing services and housing for deaf-blind persons
in their communities. |
