The
Canadian Helen Keller Centre welcomes and appreciates the
help provided by volunteers. We particularly appreciate assistance
in the following areas:
-
Drivers/Guides
- to
enable persons who are shut in and not able to travel independently
to attend the monthly meetings of their organization or to get
out and do their shopping
-
Friendly
Visiting - to
alleviate the isolation caused by deaf-blindness, to get out
for a walk, go swimming, play a game of cards, etc.
-
Intervenors/Interpreters/Communicators
- through
sign language, finger spelling, keyboarding, 2-hand manual (a
tactile spelling system), large print notes, and braille - provide
access to information, people and places.
-
Organize
and help with Events - CHKC is moving into high gear in
terms of raising awareness and funds. With all our UPCOMING EVENTS, we need volunteers to organize & help. Please
contact CHKC for details.
Thank you to the growing list of volunteers who have helped in
2004.
